Attn: California Agents
At the request of the California Department of Insurance (DOI), and in connection with our 2002 rate approval, UA has agreed to limit the rate for disabled open enrollees to the age 80 rate (plan codes U26, U27, U28 and U29). The prior rates, which were approved by the California DOI in January 2001, were calculated separately and were higher than our overage rates. The new 2002 rates are in the process of being implemented. Any new business received will be issued at the new lower rate. Any refund due because the old, higher rate was submitted will be issued directly from the Home Office. Current policyholders will receive their refund and notice of the rate decrease at the same time.
Note: This rate limit does not affect the DMSB rate, which is underwritten.
