Attn: All Agents
Beginning September 1, 2003, a federal Do
Not Call registry will
take effect. Consumers who do not wish to receive telemarketing
calls can place their phone numbers on the list in order to avoid
being contacted. The registry is nationwide in scope, includes
all telemarketers, and covers both interstate and intrastate telemarketing
calls. The national registry will be administered and enforced
by both the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal
Trade Commission (FTC).
The
staff of United American is aware of this registry and rules which
govern its enforcement. An article articulating
UA’s
policies and procedures in regard to the federal Do Not Call registry
will appear in the next issue of UA News. |
